SOLO is an organization that regularly fields media requests. The official full name of our non-profit is Small Ownership Landlords of Ontario. You may use the shortened “SOLO” or “SOLO Ontario.”
Our Reach
SOLO’s membership has grown rapidly in various different media as we have created consistent action. We are now represented on all social media platforms and continue to expand into others (such as podcasting). We meet small landlords where they are. We currently have three main discussion communities. (1) Our Facebook group, (2) a WhatsApp group and (3) a Telegram group.

Losses
Our growing database of SOLO landlords allows them to self-report losses due to non-payment of rent, LTB delays and other bad tenant issues. We’re seeing all small housing providers have to face growing costs to house bad tenants for free, and then facing damage repairs with great difficulties in recovering the money. Because of these losses, many landlords are leaving the housing market altogether. As our Chairman Boubah Bah says in a recent CBC interview, “The number of landlords leaving the GTA, we estimate, is 50 to 75 a month and climbing.”
